Doc's Legacy

We here at Dr. Wyatt’s University Herbs are stunned to learn that our leader, patriarch and friend - Dr. Frank E. Wyatt, ND – passed away at his home in New Mexico on June 21, 2011.  Dr. Wyatt had recently moved back to New Mexico to continue writing what will become his second published book.  In addition to that, he was constantly in his laboratory, discovering new herbal and homeopathic formulas to add to the already impressive catalog he has in his store.

For eleven years, Dr. Wyatt’s University Herbs has flourished at its 40th street location, due mostly to the tireless efforts of Dr. Wyatt.  He was an inventor, entrepreneur, writer, musician and a pioneer in the holistic community and the health & wellness communities as a whole.  He worked day and night to ensure that his products were one-of-a-kind; and he made certain that his formulas were much more than a combination of ingredients.  His first book, The Body Blueprint, was a groundbreaking, easy-to-understand take on natural remedies and self-healing that became the basis for many of his workshops and lectures.

As a lecturer, Dr. Wyatt packed theatres, lecture halls, and convention centers to deliver his unique point of view to thousands of individuals that were looking for answers to their health problems.  Dr. Wyatt’s intelligence, charisma, and straight-forward style of presenting were unmatched by other lecturers.  In recent years, Dr. Wyatt became a main attraction (if not the attraction) at a number of the biggest health expos across the country.  After his lectures, it was a common sight to see his booth overflowing with people seeking his advice.  His opinion was often sought by other doctors – both Holistic and Medical – when treating their own patients.  Dr. Wyatt always sought to find the root cause of sickness and illness in his clients - something that is often overlooked in the medical world today.

In addition to being an established lecturer, Dr. Wyatt was also an educator.  He was the founder of The Delaware Valley Naturopathic Medical Association and also ran the Wing Tsun University (Kung-Fu) school.  Through his teachings, students learned self-discipline and garnered a unique understanding of self-help techniques.  Dr. Wyatt didn’t teach just to share knowledge; he wanted his students to take it upon themselves to study, research, and decide what they needed to change in order to take control of their body.  But his students weren’t the only ones learning.  Countless numbers of people in Philadelphia and beyond can say that he taught them something positive – if not life-changing.  In fact, one of Dr. Wyatt’s friends and colleagues, Don Paris PhD, credits Dr. Wyatt with relieving an issue of chronic migraines that had plagued him for much of his adult life.

Outside of the health world, Dr. Wyatt’s other love was playing music.  He first learned the guitar as a child and was most recently perfecting his skills on the piano.  It was also not uncommon for those of us at the store to hear him practicing the saxophone for hours at a time in the days leading up to a performance.  Those that have seen him play will remember that during each performance he had a big smile on his face throughout the entire show and was always having fun.  He displayed the same energy on stage as he did in his office and laboratory.

It is obvious to see that Dr. Wyatt worked hard doing the things he loved to do.  Whether that was with music, health, or helping others in need, Doc never stopped working.  Even though he will no longer be with us physically, he will certainly remain in spirit.  We cannot replace the man – nor can we attempt to – but we can continue to use his teachings to ensure that we and those that we love live better, healthier lives.  We’ll miss you, Doc.
