A: Unfortunately, unless you are fortunate enough to live on a farm and produce your own food, rather than eat the denatured foods supplied in grocery stores, you are not getting the nutrients your body needs to thrive and for your mind to work at its peak efficiency. Even if you did live on such a farm, it would have to be located somewhere else other than Earth, since there is not a single place on Earth where there are not contaminants falling from the sky, or in the water supply. Unless you live in a bubble, there is no getting away from it. Extracts help in both ways, providing nutrients AND removing contaminants from your body.
Q: OK, if I need additional nutrients why can’t I just eat better?
A: That is certainly a good idea, and is mandatory for overall good health. However, in today’s busy world many people do not have the time or resources to seek out such food, nor the discipline to maintain a healthy lifestyle. As a result, despite our obesity, Americans are among the most malnourished peoples on the planet, with all the “empty” calories we consume. Even those that do eat well– like athletes -- can still “fine-tune” their bodies with additional supplements, ones created in nature but combined in a manner to synergize the benefits you receive, providing tenfold benefits to eating them in their “raw” form. For athletes – where races are often deter-mined by a tenth of a second – it could mean the difference between winning and losing. For the rest of us, the difference supplements provide could be reflected in the quality of life we enjoy, the diseases or injuries we avoid, and/or the longevity we ultimately achieve.
Q: Why can’t I just find and eat raw herbs, or boil them down and make my own extracts?
A: You could “do-it-yourself”, and some people do. In fact, until very recently these people didn’t have much choice, and Dr. Wyatt carries a variety of top quality herbs for those that prefer them in their natural state. However, you should ask yourself:
1) Do you have the time to devote to the study of Herbology, going back thousands of years, in order to safely determine the proper intake of herbs best for you?
2) Do you have the time to source the best herbs, and the knowledge to recognize inferior herbs when you see them?
3) Do you have the skills and manufacturing equipment necessary to maintain the herb’s quality in the extraction process, and not eliminate all of their beneficial qualities in your efforts to do so?
Q: Just what is an “extract” anyway?
A: Extraction processes have developed as a result of the fact that, in many cases, it would take a great many ounces of “raw” herbs or supplements for you to achieve the benefits you need. And if you were not starting with quality herbs, you would need to graze like a cow in a field to get any real results. As a result, a number of techniques have been attempted to achieve beneficial results in a small amount of product easily ingestible. At the risk of getting too technical for a moment, the various herbal processing technologies in the industry included, but were not limited to: Drying/Powdering/Tableting-Encapsulation; cold process tincturing (infusing, macerating, percolating, etc.); super critical extracting boiling, pressure, vacuum, solvents processing, decoctions, Standardized reductions, etc.) and specialized techniques for enhancing an end product such as temperature gyrating, spacing-based ashing of the herb marc, etc. Simply put, no one technique, technology or approach seemed to incorporate all the necessary factors that would result in a well-rounded and truly complete extract, until the development of the manufacturing technique employed by Dr. Wyatt.
Q: I’ve used similar extracts before, with no noticeable results. What makes Dr. Wyatt’s extracts different?
A: The short answer: If you have never used Dr. Wyatt’s formulas before, you have never used a “similar” extract- it’s that simple. That’s because Dr. Wyatt has independently researched and formulated each of his proprietary supplements, so you can get these well-rounded and truly complete holistic-based liquid herbal products no place on earth other than online at DrWyatts.com or at his flagship store in Philadelphia, PA.
The longer (vastly more technical) answer: The vast majority of other herb supplements on the market do not employ the processing technology incorporating the 4 major processing techniques (Drying, Tincturing, Extracting, Decocting/Reduction) into one highly unique serialized technology. Fact is, most solvents and/or processing technologies denature and/or render inert the biological viability of extracted active compounds, necessitating the need for more „actives‟ to get any noted effect, because the synergy of all the inherent components have been lost, and this is complicated by delivery methods (tablets, capsules, etc.) that bypass the taste/digestive initiating response that drives the effectiveness of herbs. In other words, isolate-based actives are relied upon in the same manner as chemically synthesized pharmaceutical isolate drugs, not as „true‟ herbal correctives. Dr. Wyatt’s products are based on holistically inclined Ratio-Intact herbal traditions….. that work.
Q: Is it true that most other extracts utilize alcohol in the process? And if so, why should I care?
A: Most companies use alcohol in their processing of herbal extracts, it is true. Here’s why you should care: they simply don’t “work” as well.
That’s because alcohol “denatures” (renders inert or ineffective) many active constituents and numerous compounds, such as aromatics, enzymes, polysaccharides, etc. It’s part of alcohol’s intrinsic nature; as you know- alcohol is used as a disinfectant to kill bacteria – it’s in the majority of cleaning solutions you use to clean your kitchen and toilets, after all. In addition, it is probably not a good idea for those who have any predisposition to alcohol abuse, in which cases even small amounts can have adverse consequences in terms of desire for more. Second, alcohol based extracts don’t taste good. Unlike alcohol, Glycerin possesses the quality of preserving the intrinsic taste factors important to the efficacy an herb. No other solvent or chemical extractive agent, including alcohol, possesses this quality. That is why Dr. Wyatt’s products taste so good and are taste–true to the raw herb ingredient itself. In other words, the herb tastes like it was intended to taste.
Finally, Dr. Wyatt’s extracts are so pure and safe (no added chemicals or preservatives) that they require no refrigeration after opening.
Q: Just what proof do you have that Dr. Wyatt’s extracts work?
A: The fact that herbal remedies work has been proven over thousands of years. And today, worldwide, more money is spent on these alternative medicines than the “traditional” medicine we are familiar with. So obviously there is widespread belief – borne out of widespread success with their use in a wide variety of situations. Dr. Wyatt’s formulas are developed to synergize the effects of herbs – each herb in the correct proportion to the other so as to not negate the effect of any – increasing their effectiveness tenfold. And nothing is lost in the extraction process. But “the proof is in the pudding,” as they say. And Dr. Wyatt’s long list of clients includes people from every station of life, over the past decade, including those in the “traditional” medical community.
Q: If extracts are so great, why isn’t everyone using them?
A: In the past, for those seeking them out, buying herb supplements was a crap shoot, some were good, others a complete waste of time. Other people will never consider any form of alternative medicine because they have in-grained belief systems against anything other than “traditional” medicines. These are the people who will even discourage others from trying new things or new ideas (sound familiar?) because they believe one or more of the following
1. I will live forever. (They don’t actually think forever, but they certainly don’t consider the effect that their lifestyle has on helping race towards that ultimate day of judgment).
2. My doctor tells me what to do.
3. No one I know uses them, so they must not work.
The point is, if you think for yourself, and take responsibility for your own, personal well being, holistic medicine – in all its forms – is certainly something worth considering.
