Ving Tsun Kung Fu at Dr. Wyatt's

Ving Tsun Kung Fu
Ving Tsun Kung Fu, sometimes spelled "wing chun", is an excellent form of exercise, meditation, and self-defense. Ving Tsun teaches sensitivity and structure to achieve devastating efficiency. The ultimate goal of kung fu is to win without fighting.

Ving Tsun was developed by a female monk named Ng Mui to both counteract and complement the great physical power of the martial arts systems that existed in her time. Ng Mui developed a system which uses the most economical movements to achieve maximum results. She created a simple, result-oriented system that has become known for its efficiency and effectiveness.

Beginning students start off by learning the first form, Siu Nim Tao. It is within this form that the student will learn the concept of the centerline, body alignment and the basic hand positions of Ving Tsun. By practicing Siu Nim Tao, the student will also begin to develop their understanding of Ving Tsun's core concepts, as well as developing their stance and learning the importance of relaxation. All of this is essential before the student can move on to learning Chi Sao, Ving Tsun's unique and powerful "laboratory".

In between learning the forms, a Ving Tsun student will learn numerous exercises which are geared toward developing their coordination, timing, sensitivity, balance, and understanding of energy. Proper Ving Tsun training nurtures joints and improves circulation, making it a realistic and effective system for any age.
